"The Game" Season 2 Releases To A Mixed Reception (People Are Dying)

Some months ago, populations worldwide were shocked to wake up to a world near devoid of The Game. The Game, which had been running at high levels for a suspected 2 million years straight, saw a sharp decrease in activity, seemingly for no reason at all. This decrease did however coincide with the reported Airbud collapse. This event, unfortunately, was similarly shrouded in mystery, as the Airbuds suddenly withdrew from the world afterwards, after having been in the public eye for only a few years. Many theories, however, speculated that the timing of the two events implied a causal relationship, and claimed that the Airbuds were a major source of The Game's production.

Recently, Game activity has seen a sharp increase in what some are calling "Season 2" of The Game. This, however, has only increased suspicion of the Airbuds for some, seeing as this latest spike happened at the same time as the destruction of Darlass, Texiyas, a city known to be largely controlled by the Airbuds. As well as this, the new "Season" of The Game seems to be causing some issues for participants. Some who play The Game as of late have been reported to have died after the conclusion of the event, their remains uncannily luminescent. Researchers are calling this phenomenon Game Linked sudden Onset Expiry (GLOE), which many now refer to as the Glow. Researcher Kworr Terback had this to say: "Frankly, the whole thing is utterly bizarre, and really quite concerning, considering how high Game rates have gotten in the past few days. It's stilly early, and we're learning what we can, but frankly, with the antimemetic properties of The Game, its tough to get any more information than what we already have." More on this to come.
